Former MP of Rashtriya Janata Dal Mohammad Shahabuddin has been acquitted in the Jamshedpur District Court of Jharkhand, in the 28-year-old triple murder case.
However, it is news of great relief for them. In spite of this, he will be kept in Delhi's Tihar Jail for the time being. They are also convicted in other cases, henceforth stay in Tihar Jail.
On Monday (April 17th) the Jamshedpur district court acquitted them in the absence of witnesses.
In this case, on April 3, Shahabuddin had on video conferencing. Shahbuddin had recorded his statement online in front of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ajit Kumar Singh in a 15-minute composition and described himself as innocent in this case.
It is noteworthy that 28 years ago, Congress youth President Pradeep Mishra and his two associates Janardhana Choubey and Anand Rao were killed just 100 meters from the Jugsalai station area of the district.
In this case, many people including former MP Rama Singh, Saheb Singh, Shahabuddin were made the main accused.
The victim's family has expressed grief over the court's decision and said that the main eye witness of the incident, Barmeshwar Pathak did not give the testimony, hence all the accused were acquitted one by one.
It is worth mentioning that on the evening of 02 February 1989, Pradeep Mishra and his associates were jammed with bullets in Jugsalai near Tata Steel Power House. In this case, eight people including Shahabuddin were made accused, three of them died during the trial. Four accused were acquitted in 2006 and now 28 years later the last accused Shahabuddin was also acquitted.
