Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh said on Sunday that the condition of the Indian economy is very worrying.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that there is a slowdown in the economy due to all-round mismanagement of the Narendra Modi government. The government released data two days ago in which the growth rate of the economy has come down to the lowest level in the last six years.
In the first quarter of the current financial year, the GDP growth rate has come to a halt at five percent. The figure was 5.8% in the previous quarter and in June 2018, it was 8.0%.
Dr. Manmohan Singh is also identified by an economist. "Continued decline will be a very difficult situation for India," he said. Therefore, I urge the government to come out of the politics of vengeance and listen to everyone while working with their minds. This condition of the economy is made by the mistakes of the government.
Manmohan Singh said that the growth rate of GDP by five percent indicates that the Indian economy is in the midst of a long-term slowdown. The former Prime Minister said that India's economy has the potential to grow at a rapid pace.
The economy has been registering a decline for five consecutive quarters. Earlier, in March 2013, India's economy grew at 4.3%.
From the auto industry to the FMCG, there is a phase of lethargy and because of this thousands of jobs have also been lost.
The Modi government at the Center has taken several steps to stabilize the economy in the last few days. The government has made FDI rules easier. On Friday, India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also made several announcements for reforms in public sector banks.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in a video message, "The most worrying situation is in the manufacturing sector, where the growth rate has come down to 0.6 percent. It is clear that our economy has not recovered from the mistakes of the government. GST was implemented in haste. Domestic demands are declining. The consumption growth rate has come down to the lowest level in the last 18 months. Taxes were complicated. There is disappointment among investors.
Manmohan Singh said that due to poor policies of Modi government, jobless growth is being encouraged.
The former prime minister said, "In the automobile sector, 3.5 lakh people lost their jobs. A large number of people are also unemployed in the unorganized sector. The condition of rural India is very bad. Farmers are not getting fair price and rural income is also declining. The autonomy of the institutions is being ended. The government took Rs 1.76 lakh crore from the RBI but there is no plan to use it. ''
Manmohan Singh said that the credibility of data in this government is also under question.
