Donald Trump will be able to contest presidential elections, US Supreme Court overturns the ban decision
Monday, March 4, 2024
The US Supreme Court on Monday, March 4, 2024, has canceled the ban imposed on US presidential election candidate Donald Trump.
Donald Trump, reacting to this decision, has called it a big victory for America.
The top court of the US state Colorado had barred former President Donald Trump from contesting elections in December 2023.
While doing so, reference was made to the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, under which armed insurrectionists are banned from contesting the presidential election.
But the US Supreme Court judges viewed the move with suspicion during a hearing on February 8, 2024. Along with this, he accused the state of going beyond its jurisdiction.
The Supreme Court has said that the right to implement Section 3 of the 14th Amendment is not in the hands of any state, but in the hands of Congress.
After this, on Monday, March 4, 2024, the Supreme Court has said that Trump will be able to contest the elections.
This means that Donald Trump will be able to participate in the primary phase of the US elections to be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
On this very day (Tuesday, March 5, 2024), he can be sure of getting the nomination of the Republican Party.
Because 15 US states, including Colorado, will vote for the primary phase on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. This is being called Super Tuesday.
It is believed that 77-year-old Donald Trump will win the Republican Party's nomination by defeating his only rival Nikki Haley in this election.
Primary is the stage in the American presidential election process in which parties decide their candidates through voting.
