Curfew, School-College Shutdown, Civil Service Exams Canceled due to the Stressful Situation in Kashmir

The administration imposed curfew on Sunday to maintain law and order in the Kashmir Valley and to prevent violent incidents. The commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Sabjar Ahmad Bhat, was buried in his native village in Tral in midnight, in which a large number of people were involved.

The administration says that curfew was imposed on Sunday in seven police stations of Srinagar, Nauhatta, Renwadi, Khanar, M R Ganj, Safa Kadal, Kralakhand and Mausuma. The movement of vehicles in the city has also been banned in the morning. To prevent any kind of violent incidents in Srinagar, heavy security forces have been deployed. On Saturday, one was killed in a violent clash between the Stone throwers and security forces, while 40 were injured.

Yasin Malik, President of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, was arrested on Sunday and was taken to Srinagar jail. On Saturday, Malik visited the house of Sabjar Bhat in Rutsana of Tral and expressed his condolences with his mother.

Hizbul Commander Sabjar Bhat was buried in his native village Rutsana after midnight under strong security. On this occasion, a large number of people arrived from different areas.

After being surrounded by security forces in Samoh village of Tral, protesters tried to break the circle in which one demonstrator died. At this place, Hizbul Commander, Sabjar Ahmad Bhat and his companions were hidden. In other places, 40 people were injured in the clashes that included 28 protesters and 12 security personnel.

Of the injured protesters, eight have been injuried by bullets, while seven have pellet bullets and have been admitted to different hospitals in Srinagar.

Section 144 has been imposed in Ganderbal, Badgam, Bandipora and Kupwara of North Kashmir, while adequate security arrangements have been made in Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian in south Kashmir. A large number of people from various places in south Kashmir attended Saturday's final journey to Sabjar Ahmad Bhat and his companion Faizan.

On Saturday, the administration stopped Internet service on mobile phones, while outgoing calls were also stopped on prepaid mobile phones. Incoming and outgoing calls were stopped on all mobile phones on Sunday morning. At present, only postpaid BSNL mobile phones are working. Rail services between Baramulla and Banihal are closed.

The Civil Services Examinations to be held on Sunday have also been canceled. In the Kashmir Valley, there are orders to close all the educational institutions on Monday.

The separatists have called for a shutdown on Sunday and Monday and on May 30, for the sake of the Hizbul commander, Sabjar Ahmad Bhat, they called 'March to Tral'.
