These people, who were released after being in jail for almost 10 days, shared their pain with the media and said that they were imprisoned in the jail and toilets and drains were cleaned and some prisoners called them 'Ghaddar' (traitor).
Anis Babu Mansuri, who was arrested by the police, told the Hindustan Times that when those people were taken to jail, about a dozen old prisoners there slapped everyone and gallagouges. Mansuri is tailor by profession.
25-year-old Mansuri told HT that the police had beaten them in custody. Showing marks of beating by the police, Mansuri said to the newspaper, "We are Muslims and Hindustani is also."
The 15 people living in Burhanpur village, about 350 km from Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal, were sued after the India-Pakistan match on June 18. The police had alleged that these people had burnt firecrackers after India's defeat and were pro-Pakistan slogans. When the police could not find any evidence-witnesses, they filed a case against all 15 people, spreading communal racism (Section 53-A) by removing the 'sedition' (Section 124-A) case. All the people got bail from the court on 27th June.
The case has been registered on 15 people except two of them the others are illiterate and work as a daily wage worker.There is neither TV nor mobile in some homes.
Some villagers have alleged that after the cricket match between India and Pakistan, the police wandered in the village for two to three days and lifted it, which they thought.
There are many Tadvi nicknames in the arrested people. Tadivi is included in tribal class in Maharashtra state, but in Madhya Pradesh, they come under OBC category (OBC).
