The Maharashtra Education Board has started removing the chapters related to the Mughal empire in the course of history. For this year, the revised books for the year have emphasized the Maratha empire in the course of the history of the students of class 7th to 9th standard, whereas the Mughal empire is absent from the curriculum.
According to the Times of India news, those chapters from the 7th grade book have been removed, in which mention of Muslim rulers like Mughal and Razia Sultan and Muhammad bin Tughluq. There is no mention of monuments such as Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar and Red Fort in the new curriculum. The 9th class book also mentions the Bofors scandal and the emergency in 1975-1977.
According to the news, Akbar's information has been given in the 7th class book, "Akbar was the most powerful king of the Mughal dynasty." When he tried to bring India under a central authority, he had to face strong opposition. Maharana Pratap, Chand Bibi and Rani Durgavati fought against him. His struggle is remarkable.''
An attempt has been made to reduce the reign of Akbar in three lines. Apart from this, there is no mention of the rupee in the book, which had been issued by Afghan invaders, which are still in circulation.
Talking about the past year's book, Akbar was described as a generous and tolerant ruler.
Apart from this, the first woman to rule in Delhi from the current book, Razia Sultan, Muhammad Bin Tughlaq has been shifted capital from Delhi to Daulatabad (existing Marathwada) and the first monetization initiative has been removed in the country. Muhammad bin Tughlaq started the practice of copper and brass coins in place of gold and silver coins overnight.
Similar information related to Sher Shah Suri has also been removed. Sher Shah Suri had forced Humayun to escape from India.
There is a lot of emphasis on the history of Shivaji in the section of medieval Indian history. In the old book, where the name of his chapter was 'People's King', it has now been changed to 'An Ideal Ruler'.
