After winning the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections in 2017, BJP is preparing to form a government for the sixth time in the state, but in this election, the party has suffered a shock that Prime Minister will be Narendra Modi himself never imagined.

BJP could not capture the Unjha Assembly seat under PM Modi's hometown, Vadnagar. Congress has won this seat. Congress candidate Dr. Asha Patel defeated BJP candidate Patel Narayanbhai while getting 81797 votes while Narayanbhai got 62268 votes.

In 2012, Narayan Patel defeated Asha in this seat. Within five years only the voters' mind changed. The point to note here is that nearly 40 per cent of the voters in the Unjha seat belong to the Patidar community, it is said that these people will have to vote in the opposition to BJP.

Actually, two years ago, the protesters started demanding reservation, in which 14 youths were killed, of which one young man was from Unjha. There is so much anger against the BJP in the Patidar community of this area that the party did not have a single candidate in the body elections held in 2015.

Even today, people are showing displeasure with the BJP in the assembly elections. Although the BJP tried to win the heart of the voters in this area, it could not be done.

At the same time, the Congress recognized the people's displeasure and gave much attention to this area and party president Rahul Gandhi, under his Navasarjan Yatra, strongly campaigned in these areas.

While addressing the people here, he said that PM Modi is forgetting all the issues in the campaign and only talking about himself.

In a rally held here, Rahul had said, "You have heard the speech of Modi Ji. For the first time, he did not talk about Gujarat's future in his speech, nor did he talk about the issue of corruption and neither did anything about the farmers. PM Modi talked only about PM Modi. Modiji, I want to tell you that this election is not about you nor is it about me. This election is not even about BJP and Congress. This election is about the future of the people of Gujarat. If you are giving a speech, then you should say something about the future of the people of Gujarat.
