The Congress said on Friday that Rashtriya Savayam Sevak Sangha (RSS) does not have the character and courage to accept that the same is the original political party of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and emphasizing that BJP and RSS have no right to represent the Hindus.
Congress spokesman Anand Sharma said, "Despite joining the allies (Vrindavan) in the meeting, the RSS still has no character and courage to say that it is BJP's 'original political party'."
Comparing the RSS with the octopus, Sharma said, "There are many associate organizations in it. They claim to represent Indian culture and Hinduism. While RSS and Hindutva are political ideologies, neither is this culture nor is the philosophy of Hinduism."
He said, "The country's majority community has never given the RSS or BJP the right to represent the Hindus. It shows that their thinking is distorted. The fatal mix of religion in politics is the thing that BJP and RSS are doing."
Sharma said, "RSS still claims to be a social and cultural organization. However, without the RSS stamp, BJP or the BJP government does not take any decision. They should come forward and accept that they govern the political policy of BJP."
A coordination meeting of the RSS and its allies began on Friday in Vrindavan. BJP President Amit Shah is also participating in this.
