Wednesday, August 14, 2024
The interim government of Bangladesh will prosecute those responsible for the deaths during the anti-reservation movement in July 2024 at the International Criminal Tribunal.
Asif Nazrul, the interim government's adviser on law, justice and parliamentary affairs, said on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, "Some cases have already been registered to hear the 'massacre' and firing during the reservation reform movement. But students, human rights organizations and many others say that it should be investigated as a crime against humanity.''
"We found that those responsible for the 'genocide' in July 2024 can be prosecuted in the International Criminal Tribunal."
Asif Nazrul said, "The investigation team will work under the United Nations. No one, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, involved in the killings will be spared."
Many people were killed in Bangladesh during the anti-reservation movement against the Sheikh Hasina government in July 2024.
