According to the BBC, the Indian Air Force's target of the Jaish-e-Mohammed camp is in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and not near the Line of Control.

Based on information from official sources, the BBC said that "Fighter Mirage -2000 aircraft have attacked the training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed, built in the forest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province."

Earlier, there was confusion over the fact that the attack happened at the place called Balakot near Poonch, or in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Now on the basis of information from official sources, BBC correspondent Zubair Ahmed has told that the Balakot which is attacked is a part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which is not part of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which is in Manshera district.

Although India has not officially clarified that the Mirage planes have targeted which Balakot.

An official statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs states, "In this action, a large number of Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists, trainers, senior commanders and groups of jihadis have been killed, these people are preparing for fidayeen attack on India. Pakistan has sacked the area immediately, people of Jaba, Garhi Habibullah and Balakot areas told BBC Urdu journalist Zubair Khan that they heard the voices of strong blasts between the three to four o'clock in the morning. No information has yet been reached about the number of people killed.

Police officers around Balakot said on condition of anonymity that they tried to go to the blast site but the security forces took the area under their supervision.
