Former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was cremated with full state honors at National Memorial site on Friday. Here thousands of people gave their last farewell with damp eyes. Vajpayee died on Thursday at AIIMS. He was 93 years old. Vajpayee's adoptive daughter Namita gave his a fire in front of Vedic mantras and soldiers from the salute of 21 guns.

Many leaders, including President of India Ramnath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rose above the party line and gave final farewell to Vajpayee in a national memorial site. Officials from many countries were also present on this occasion. Prior to paying a wreath to the body of the Vajpayee by politicians under the state honor, the heads of the three armies paid tribute. After this, the Tricolor wrapped with the body of Vajpayee was removed and it was given to the adoptive natini, after which the dead body was handed over to the family for the funeral.

Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, BJP leader and Vajpayee's long-time ally LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Congress President Rahul Gandhi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat were present in the funeral.

On this occasion, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk of Bhutan, Afghanistan's former President Hamid Karzai, Nepal's Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyavali, Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Laxman Kiryila and Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Abdul Hassan Mahmood Ali were also present at the funeral of the departed leader.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti, Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mallikajarn Kharge and Anand Sharma, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, former Union Minister A Raja, MDMK chief Vaiko and Trinamool leader Dinesh Trivedi also witnessed the funeral of the leader.
