The Madras High Court in India on Thursday expressed regret that the great profession of lawyers has reached the worst position and now the sole purpose of the lawyers is to fill their pockets. Justice N. Kirubakaran made this verbal remark while hearing a writ plea of lawyers Bhaskar Maduram and Lenin Kumar.
In the petition, the new guidelines brought by Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Bar Council have been challenged to contest the election of lawyers' bodies. They have challenged the guidelines in Madurai Bench of the High Court. Justice said that Justice R Tharani and one of his benches will order the matter on Friday in this case. The court had to first pronounce the judgment on February 12 in this case.
The bench said, "A group of lawyers have hurt the honor of this profession and have completely ruined it for more than eight years. Even senior advocates continue to fill their pockets instead of taking any step to save this great profession." He said, ''This great profession of lawyers has reached the worst position these days and the sole purpose of lawyers is to fill up their pockets.''
