Tirang Abo was the MLA of the party of Meghalaya's chief minister conrad Sangma. He was 56 years old.

It is being told that in the attack, the son of the legislator, Tirang Abo, also died. While two people are being told injured.

Arunachal police has confirmed this incident. According to the release issued by the police, Tirang Abo was going to Arunachal from Assam with security arrangements including his family.

In the meanwhile, some gun assaulted assailants in the Khonsa-Deomali Road ambushed their convoy.

This district of Arunachal Pradesh looks from Assam, Nagaland and Myanmar on three sides. In this area, there is considerable activity of both the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) and the NSCN- K both organizations.

It is worth mentioning that when Prime Minister Modi went to Nagaland in year 2015, he had made a cease-fire agreement with NSCN-IM. There is still a dialogue with this organization for peace process.

In Arunachal Pradesh, BJP Vice-President Dominique Tadar has told the BBC that this attack is an issue of investigation and which organization is behind it. This thing can not be said right now.

India's Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the attack and tweeted. He wrote, "The killing of MLA Tirang Abo, his family and others in Arunachal Pradesh is going to give a surprise. This is a disturbing move to disturb the peace and stability of the North East. People involved in this heinous crime will not be spared.

Chief Minister of Meghalaya and NPP chief Conrad Sangma expressed tension over the attack and tweeted that the Home Minister and the Prime Minister should take strong action against those who attacked.

Abo was contesting assembly elections this time from NPP. Earlier he was elected MLA from Congress. Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has also condemned the attack and expressed confidence in the strong action against the attackers.

Nagaland Chief Minister Nefu Rio has also condemned the attack.

Assam Police has also condemned the attack. Assam Police has written on its Twitter handle that tribute to soldiers of other security forces, including Tirang Abo, who lost their lives in the attack in Arunachal Pradesh.
