There is a big controversy on the picture of Mohammed Ali Jinnah in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Student Union building in India. In view of this, the District Magistrate has issued the order to shut down the internet services in the city by four and five May. DM Chandra Bhushan Singh has passed the order to shut down Internet services under section 144.
After the picture of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus and the events that took place outside the campus continue to persist in the university. Students who are performing indefinitely in front of the Bab-e-Syed Gate of AMU today offered a Jumma prayers on the same place. In the Jamaat, many university teachers and many others who are affiliated with AMU participated.
The protesting students have announced to continue boycotting all academic activities going on campus for the next two days. Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor of AMU, visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital today. On Wednesday, the students, who were injured in the police lathi charge, are undergoing treatment in this hospital.
Writing a letter to President Ramnath Kovind, AMU Teachers Association asked the workers of Hindu Yuva Vahini to conduct a high level inquiry immediately after the incidents of spreading chaos in the university campus. Association Secretary Professor Nazmul Hassan said that the organization has called on the President to take the matter seriously, as it is a matter related to security of former vice-president Hamid Ansari. He alleged that on May 2, the Police not stopped Hindu Yuva Vahini's hooligans.
Teachers of AMU have planned to peace march today. This march will be completed in the court.
It is known that Jinnah's picture has been in the union hall of AMU since 1938. Some goons of the Hindu Yuva Vahini had entered the premises on May 2 and started slapping with security personnel and shouting slogans.
AMU student union had demanded the arrest of goons of Hindu Yuva Vahini. In support of this demand, police used force to disperse the crowd of AMU students gathered at the premises of the gate, six students including Mashakur Ahmed Usmani, president of the AMU student union and former Vice-president of the student union M Hussein Zaidi were injured. After this incident, AMU students started indefinite strike from Thursday.
