The African Union has been included in the G-20 as a permanent member in the G-20 summit being held in the National Capital Region of India, Delhi.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his welcome address, said, "Before proceeding further with your consent, I invite the Chairman of the African Union to take his seat as a permanent member of the G-20."
The G20 group includes 19 countries – Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom and America. .
The 20th member of the G20 group is the European Union.
After the African Union joined the G20 group as a permanent member, now 19 countries and two unions are its members.
