A farmer died due to the police bullet in the violence that took place on Thursday (October 26th) after death of the beating in police custody in Darbada taluka of Dahod of Gujarat.
After the death of the alleged beating in custody, the angry villagers of Chilakota in tribal-dominated village surrounded the police station. The villagers were demanding a complaint against the guilty policemen.
The police fired to remove the crowd so that a farmer was injured. The bullet was on the farmer's head. Tension prevails in the area after the farmer's death. On Wednesday (October 25th) the Election Commission had announced the dates of voting for the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.
According to sources, police crime branch took Kanesh Gamra (31) for questioning around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. The police was questioning Gomra about his brother, who is accused in a case of robbery. Gomra had accompanied another person to the police. At around three o'clock at night, the police left them. About an hour later, Gamra died.
The villagers took the dead body of Gamra at seven in the morning and reached the police station at Jeswada. The villagers were demanding a case of murder against policemen involved in the interrogation from Gamra.
When the police was not ready to file a case of murder, angry people started stone pelting and set fire to some of the vehicles parked there. Seven policemen have been injured in the stone pelting.
The police first fired tear gas shells and after them fired bullet. Three people were injured in police firing, one of them farmer Ramasu Mohaniya died. Mohaniya has his wife, three sons and three daughters in the family.
