The leaders of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) applauded the Delhi court's decision to acquit all the accused in the 2G scam on Thursday. India's former telecom minister A Raja, Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi was also accused in the 2G spectrum scam.
After the court verdict, DMK workers gathered outside party headquarters and celebrated the decision. Special Judge OP Saini acquitted all the accused in both cases filed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED).
During the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in 2008, the telecom department had allegedly alleged unanimity in licensing of 2G spectrum, which was widely disclosed after the CAG report in 2010.
DMK leader Durai Murugan and Rajya Sabha MP P. Shiva expressed happiness over the decision. Congress leaders also expressed happiness over this decision.
Welcoming this decision, Puducherry Chief Minister and Congress leader V Narayanasamy told reporters that Bharatiya Janata Party took political advantage by running false campaign against Congress and DMK.
In Tamil Nadu, Congress leader S. Tirunawukkarasar told the TV channel that truth has finally won. He said that BJP came to power on false propaganda and this decision was the first step towards DMK's future victory.
