2987 Corporates Donated 706 Crore to BJP

The industrialists, corporates and business houses have given the highest amount of donation in the last four years to the BJP. According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), nearly eight times in the last four years, the corporates had donated to political parties in just eight years.

Only 89 per cent of the total dononation is given by the corporates. 2987 donors gave Rs 706 crore to BJP.

According to the report of the ADR, total donations of Rs 956.77 crore were donated to five Indian parties from the financial year 2012-13 to 2015-16. Of these, 2987 donors alone donated a total of Rs 705.81 crores whereas the Congress received a total of Rs 198.16 crore from 167 corporate / business houses.

The NCP has got 50 donors totaling 50.73 crores, whereas CPM has received 1.89 rupees through 45 donors and Rs 1.88 crore through CPIs through 17 donors.

Although BSP is a national party, the details of its donation are not in this report because BSP has announced that no donor has donated more than Rs. 20 thousand to them.

An analysis of the donors of BJP shows that in the last two years, the figure of business houses, who donate voluntary donations of more than 20 thousand rupees, is 92 per cent, whereas according to the known sources of Congress, only 85 per cent are business houses, who donated more than 20 thousand money. The highest donations received by the national parties in 2014-15, when there were Lok Sabha elections in the country.

CPI and CPM have announced the least contribution from corporate or business houses. Only four percent of total corporate donations of national parties have been received by CPI and 17 percent CPM.

Despite not giving donations in the year 2012-13, Satya Electoral Trust is the biggest donor of three national parties. Between 2013-14 and 2015-16, this trust has donated a total of 260.87 crores by 35 donations to BJP, Congress and NCP. BJP has got Rs 193.62 crores from Satya Electoral Trust, Congress got Rs 57.25 crores and NCP got 10 crores rupees.
